Musings in the Wilderness takes on the intersection of the Christian faith and the church. It is inspired by the experiences of those who find that their honest attempts at uncovering truth or following Jesus lead them away from their faith communities. My hope is that this blog can be haven away from the noise that often accompanies journeys of spiritual transition and deconstruction.
There are two narratives I’m consciously rejecting here. First, I reject the idea that God is bound to those who call themselves the church. Second, I reject the idea that nothing good can be found in the church. As ever, reality is more complicated than these narratives and so I will strive to honor people’s stories and to give thoughtful voice to the experience of being wounded in church.
Musings in the Wilderness is written by Brice Larson. He is the author of World Remade, a collection of reflections on faith and life with Jesus through the lens of a seminary education and hurt at the hands of the church. World Remade is forthcoming–the publishers are currently doing their work. I’ll provide an update on when it will be available when I know more.
